Life ElderCare works to help alleviate hunger, lack of transportation, loneliness, and fall risk for seniors in the community. Life ElderCare provides services such as Meals on Wheels, VIP Rides for appointments and shopping, fall prevention, and visitors based on need, not income.
Lavender Seniors provides volunteers who are background checked and interviewed after which they are matched with an Alameda County LGBTQ senior who is isolated in their home. Visitors can share stories, chat about mutual interests and current events, and if both are willing and able, volunteers can take their seniors out for a walk in the park, a bite to eat, a cup of coffee, or maybe a movie or trip to the museum. Volunteers are asked to spend two hours per week with the senior for a period of at least six months.
