It's March and Spring is finally here! Sun, flowers, blue sky, butterflies and... allergies.. are back! 
So pack up your sunscreen and a box of tissues and get ready for 8 new ways to volunteer queer! Be sure to scroll to the bottom to learn about new scholarship opportunities from GAPA Foundation


Finally - if you've been looking for a hella gay way to support folks in Guerneville after the floods, check out Lazy Bear Foundation's new fundraising initiative at bottom (there are sweatshirts!).

East Bay: Oaklash, the Bay Area's drag and queer performance festival, is now a full weekend. Queens, kings, and queers from all over the Bay Area come together in Oakland for this celebration of local queer culture. Volunteers needed to work as ushers, stage hands, talent assistants, and more. Event dates are April 27 & April 28, 2019 // 12PM - 2AM. More info here

San Francisco: Equality California Institute Leadership Academy is an innovative program to foster the next generation of LGBTQ leaders in California. Interested applicants should display a history of accomplishments in their respective careers, as well as demonstrate a proven track record of advocacy and civic engagement with LGBTQ-related issues. More info here

San Francisco: The Positive Resource Center is celebrating its volunteers and throwing a party in their honor on April 18th. We are looking for 5 new volunteers to help with the event so their own volunteers can max and relax. Volunteers will help with check-in, setup, etc. Sign up here

San Francisco: Lambda Legal is throwing their annual SF SOIREE on Thursday April 4th at The Pearl. The event celebrates and honors their years of service to San Francisco, and they are looking for volunteers to provide general support and registration support. Learn more


East Bay: First Fridays in Oakland is an immersive art and community experience on the first Friday of each month in Oakland's KONO district. They are looking for volunteer to collect donation at the front gate entrance. The time commitment is from 4:30-9pm, and volunteers get food vouchers and free tshirts! Learn more


San Francisco: WayOUT empowers LGBTQ+ youth to feel safe being who they really are. They are looking for a treasurer to manage all inflow and outflow of funds between local chapters and partner organizations. Time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per month with added time before/after each event(2-3x/year). Learn more


San Francisco: GAPA Foundation is looking for volunteers for various opportunities, including: staff for their annual Drag Runway Show; grant & scholarships officers; and members of the scholarships & grants committees. Learn more


San Jose: The LGBTQ Youth Space is looking for Speakers Bureau volunteers. Located in San Jose, the LGBTQ Youth Space is a community drop-in center and mental health program for young adults ages 13-25. More info



San Francisco: The GAPA Foundation 2019 scholarships are now open! Ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 in financial support, applicants must be attending in a post-secondary institution in the United States in the fall of 2019 and have a strong history of activism within the API and/or LGBTQ communities. Applications close June 30, 2019.  More info

North Bay: Lazy Bear Fund hosts one of the largest and most successful bear gatherings in the world in Guerneville every summer. Right now they are collecting funds to be directed by the Russian River Chamber of Commerce and help businesses get back on their feet after the recent flood. If you want to pitch in, go to lazybearfund.org and make a donation through the Lazy Bear Cares area or purchase a "Lazy Bear Cares" hoodie, also in the Lazy Bear Cares area. All of the proceeds from both donation and purchase go to flood recovery efforts.
