Huckleberry Youth Programs
Huckleberry’s mission is to educate, inspire, and support underserved youth to develop healthy life choices, to maximize their potential, and to realize their dreams.
Adolescence can be a challenging time, and many low-income youth face additional barriers, risks, and pressures that make these years even more critical. Huckleberry provides a network of services to help youth develop healthy life choices, maximize their potential, and realize their dreams.
Many of the youth supported by Huckleberry are LGBTQ+ identified, and they are actively looking for LGBTQ+ mentors.
In particular, Huckleberry is seeking mentors for their My City Mentor program, which supports youth who have been arrested in the County of San Francisco. Huckleberry’s Community Assessment and Resource Center (CARC) provides a single point of entry for adolescents who have encountered the justice system to receive guidance and support. Mentors are a key part of this process, offering youth a willing ear and additional help in achieving their goals.
“Being a mentor has been a way for me to challenge the way the world is by making it how I hope it could be.” – Arsenio, CARC Mentor
