When you’re not running on three different, challenging, fun trails, you’ll camp out, party around the fire-pit at Ragnar Village and bond with your teammates. This “summer camp for grown-ups” takes place on July 20-21, 2018 under the warm California sun in the Tahoe National Forest where you can look forward to experiencing all that the Sierra Nevadas are known for.
Each team member will raise a target of $1000 to support TurnOut’s work to connect volunteers with LGBTQ+ causes in the Bay Area. We hope you’ll join us for this incredible adventure!

We’re always looking for people who are interested, willing and able to become a BAD Hand. As a
thank you for volunteering your time you’ll also receive free entry to our bouts and of course the undying love of BAD skaters and officials.
BAD Hands Duties:
Be available to work at least one home team bout.
Attend an orientation session online or in person prior to bout day.
BAD Hands Perks:
Free admission to each BAD home team bout the season you are a BAD Hand.
Priority shift scheduling. BAD Hands get first choice of which bout shift.
Invitation to the end of season wrap party.

Track Maintenance – Want the best view of the track? Track Maintenance gets to be up close to the action, maintaining the track in between plays and at halftime.
Box Office – Calling all social butterflies! Be the first face our fans see when they walk into our venue. Greet them at the door, take their tickets, and make sure they know the best places to be to see all the action on the track!
BAD Merch & Raffle – This year, we’re expanding our volunteer army to some of our most saturated areas. If you love people and selling roller derby swag, these roles are perfect for you!

The LGBT National Help Center wants you!
Volunteering is tremendously rewarding – but it’s a big commitment.
We are always looking for new volunteers to staff our LGBT toll-free national hotlines.
Volunteers provide telephone peer-support, local resources and factual information. We ask telephone volunteers to make a minimum commitment of 2 or 2 ½ hours on the phone each week, the same time each week for at least six months after training is completed.
We search for volunteers who are very good listeners, are very non-judgmental and who are comfortable talking with callers about difficult issues they are dealing with.
In the San Francisco Bay Area volunteers will come into our office for training and shifts.

Local nonprofits provide volunteers to support this event and in return the proceeds from the event are granted back to supporting nonprofits. Several of TurnOut’s partner organizations are beneficiaries of the event this year, including: AIDS Legal Referral Panel, Maitri Compassionate Care, Positive Resource Center, and Project Openhand. When you volunteer on behalf of one of these organizations, your service not only supports this incredible event but also results in additional donations to your beneficiary nonprofit.
