Become a Gender Advocate (Peer Counselor) with TACT

Under TACT (Trans Advocacy and Care Team), Gender Advocates are trans and nonbinary volunteers who provide free and sliding scale 1-on-1 peer counseling to other trans and nonbinary people. They employ strong active listening skills and center the lived experiences of the individuals who they support. Gender Advocates provide compassionate listening, affirmative guidance, and supportive resources with the ultimate goal of helping other trans and non-binary folks to thrive. Great opportunity for folx who are becoming a therapist, counselor, or community organizer. Also open to folx interested in the mental health, social justice, and community organizing space.

They are kicking off their new volunteer Gender Advocate cohort training on Tuesday, September 30th, from 4:30 - 7pm PST / 7:30 - 10pm EST.

This is a 10-week training (1.5hr/week commitment) to equip Gender Advocates with the essential skills and resources needed to successfully provide trans and nonbinary folx with the gender-affirming support they need. After the training, Gender Advocates can expect to hold their own 1-on-1 peer counseling sessions with peers that match their unique stories, background, and experience (carefully matched by our TACT Programs Manager). Throughout this whole experience, Gender Advocates will report and have our TACT Programs Manager as a mentor for ongoing, weekly support.
